MICHAEL

JOYCE

is a UK based music producer who dabbles in many genres. For the last decade he has been honing his craft on the boutique festival circuit with regular appearances at Deevstock and Orange Cormorant festival, where he captivates crowds with his live electronic performances. Michael’s music is filled with melancholic, tortured synths, as well as soaring sustained electric guitar tones, all layered over punchy, driving drums.

Michael was born in St. Albans England, to music-loving parents who often filled the house with eclectic sounds. From a young age he enjoyed listening to everything from Joni Mitchell and Fleetwood Mac to Michael Sembello and Salif Keita. At age 7 his parents bought him a Casio keyboard with some basic sequencing capabilities, and Michael’s love for composition was born. Michael was introduced to electronic music by his older brother, Joseph Joyce, who is himself a very talented DJ and producer.

Michael spent his formative teenage years in North Norfolk where he was heavily influenced by the illegal rave scene, which further cemented his love for electronic music. He studied mathematics at university, but kept coming back to music production. He continued to develop his craft and his catalogue of compositions, ranging from drum and bass to melodic techno, with influence from prog, rock, pop and psychedelia. He uses Ableton and a variety of software and hardware synthesisers as well as acoustic, classical and electric guitars, to craft his tunes. Over time, Michael has improved his skills as a mix and mastering engineer and has recently begun to put out his finished tracks as digital releases.
